The Lodge; A Sportsman’s Grill

I was hanging with some friends last night and we all decided to swing by the The Lodge; A Sportsman’s Grill. We were seated quickly and greated by our waiter within seconds. I was with a large group of people so I had the rare opportunity to try alot of things on the menu and loved most of them.

We got fried pickles, stuffed jalepenos poppers and chips and queso for appetizers. The fried pickles were good but way to soft and flimsy to compete with other restaurants thicker battered fried pickles that have a nice crispy/ crunchy texture. The jalepeno poppers were good but way to big to be considered poppers, I had to cut them in half to eat them. The batter on the poppers again was way to thin and left me wishing there was more of a crunch. The chips and queso werent mind blowing.. they are about average as to what you would expect out of chips and queso.

I got the bison burger with american cheese, onion rings, chili, slaw and special sauce served with a side of potato salad. The burger was great and enormous!!! All the toppings were fresh and the bison taste amazing. The potato salad however was awful… It looked beautiful but tasted like is had spoiled a few days ago.

My girlfriend got the grilled chicken sandwich and I made sure to grab a few bites. The sandwich was good but unfortunately she got the potato salad as her side and said it was awful.

My friends got a bison burger and corn dogs for themselves for dinner. I slowly made my way over to the corn dogs and WOW!!!! they blew me away.. I would easily put my reputation on the line by saying The Lodge has THE BEST corndogs Ive ever had on the east coast. The batter was really thick and had an amazing crunch with a really juicy hotdog hidden inside.

Overall I could recommend The Lodge to anyone who hasnt tried it yet. I would steer clear of the potato salad for now.. but everything else is yummy :)
