Taqueria la Unica looks like it might have once been some American style diner converted to a Mexican restaurant. I’ve been here on a number of occasions and have found it to be a local favorite and is almost always packed with people especially around lunch time. Once inside, you find the staff friendly and quick to take your order.
The chips and salsa are quick to arrive and taste about average. I ordered the carnitas plate and they came out served with the typical presentation of Mexican rice and refried beans with a generous portion of lettuce on the plate as well. The corn tortillas were perfectly heated and made the perfect wrap for the carnitas. The meat were amazing… the seasoning was great, the tenderness was perfect. I’ve also had the carnitas la unica tacos and they were well above exceptional. at 2 bucks a piece these things are well under priced for the flavor they pack. Squeeze a little lime over top and you’ve got yourself the perfect taco.
Cheap dinner with great food made for a great experience and I will definitely be going back again and again.
