After the much heated Penguin debacle, who couldn’t resist checking out the newest hot spot in Charlotte. Pinkys Westside Grill is truly an up and coming star and will definitely fuel a long lasting cross-town rivalry for years to come. We went on a Wednesday night and had absolutely no wait to get a table. the place was decorated in the typical “random items on the wall” fashion and much to our liking the staff is still full of tattoos.
We got the Greg’s Pickles for the appetizer and the Mexi-Burger, Hushpuppies and the Tilapia Fish tacos for dinner. Greg’s Pickles are amazing!!! The thicker the batter is always best by us and Pinkys was thick and crunchy :) Close tie with the fried pickles we had at Diamond, these are some of the best in Charlotte.
The Mexi-Burger was… ummmm… unique. It was served with queso, sour cream, black beans and pico de gallo over top a 5oz burger patty. It was good though not great, the Billy Goat Burger at Penguin was way better. Im definitly going to be making a return trip to Pinkys though to try the White-Trash Burger, Mmmmmmm…. yummy :)
The Tilapia Tacos were also good though not great and the salsa verde served with it was a little too hot for the light weight that was suppose to eat it. I cant tell you anything about the hushpuppies because unfortunatley they never came out :(
Our trip to Pinkys was positive, everything we ate was good though not great. We’re looking forward to seeing how Pinkys evolves over the next few years.
