Kickstand Burgers and Bar is located next to Loco Lime in the Midwood neighborhood and home to one of the best burgers we have ever sank our teeth into. Being a self proclaimed burger connoisseur I make it a mission to test every burger joint I come across and since we live just minutes from Kickstand it was an easy target for our latest review.
There’s nothing special of memorable about the decor so we will skip right through that and jump into the food. We started out the night with wings and fried pickles (who doesn’t love fried pickles?) and didn’t fall in love right away.
The wings were decent but nothing worth remembering. If you’re looking for wings hit up Kristopher’s Sports Bar in Matthews on Sunday or Monday night. Wings are $.60 and they’ve been my personal favorite for the last decade.
The fried pickles were good… pretty good I guess. The batter was on point and they were cooked perfectly. My only complaint is a personal preference and its that I dont like fried pickle spears, I like them cut thin and fried thick.
The bike shop steak salad had marinated steak over field greens, red onions, cherry tomatoes, gorgonzola cheese crumbles, boiled egg, and a balsamic glaze with blue cheese vinaigrette. Not the best salad in Charlotte but the steak was tender and the balsamic glaze did make me smile for a split second :)
The onion rings were decent but appeared to be your standard frozen onion rings in a bag and nothing worth remembering.
The Cross Country burger came out topped with a citrus bbq sauce, pico de gallo salsa, guacamole, pepper jack cheese, and a jalapeno cilantro spread. The Cross Country was good… but nothing compared to the Kickstand Burger
The signature burger is the Kickstand burger and comes topped with sundried tomatoes, carmelized onions, basil, garlic, bakes brie, and a delicious cranberry chutney. I (curtis) am not typically a fan of fancy burgers… but damn… this burger rocks.
To top it all off we got the side of gourmet corn on the cob and once again… damn… it rocked. A little sweet, a little creamy, a little salty, a little bit of corn on the con heaven in my mouth :)
