We planned a trip to DC and in typical UFL fashion we decided to visit 4 restaurants and the National Zoo in only 8 hours. GBD Fried Chicken and Doughnuts was the second stop (we wanted lunch dessert after leaving ShopHouse). We weren’t looking for anything too big since we just ate lunch but that didn’t stop us from getting a Drum and Thigh Lunchbox with a choice of side & creme fraiche biscuit, the Maple Bourbon Bacon doughbut, the Tres Leches doughnut, the Raspberry Fritter, the Apple Fritter, and a few others I cant remember the names of.
Yes… I realize this makes us sound like fatties, but I assure you it was all done for the sake of very important foodie research and without our gluttonous well-being in mind.
The fried chicken is sourced from Freebird chicken (100% humanely-raised free-range hormone and antibiotic free) and was more addictive than even the infamous king of fried chicken. Sorry guys, after the first bite our KFC love gave way to a serious GBD addiction. The doughnuts were equally as impressive and I’m more than happy to say that in a country plagued with inadequate fritters… the GBD fritters were seriously on point.
Check out GBD’s next time you’re near DuPont circle and looking for some fried chicken and doughnuts.
