I got around to trying Diamond today and there were some hits and misses on my trip. I didnt have to wait long at lunch for a table which I was excited about. I ordered a half order of fried pickles for my appetizer and a small block burger (southern style) with hushpuppies on the side.
The fried pickles were amazing… Ive only been to Diamond once, so I dont know if my fried pickles were just an accident, but I will say the fried pickles at Diamond were the BEST IVE EVER HAD!!! I love my fried pickles as thin as possible and as crunchy as possible, the Diamond delivered. So thin and crunchy, the fried pickles closer resembled kettle cooked pickle flavored chips…. mmmmmm….. they were yummy :) The small block southern style burger fell a little shy of my expectations though. There were a couple things I noted about the burger… .too much mustard and a flavorless bland beef patty. The hushpuppies turned out amazing, perfectly fried little balls of doughie greatness. They came 12 for $3 and were big… like not bite size big. Before leaving I had to give the banana pudding a shot and it came out good but not great. there was no whipped cream on it (which is usually standard or at least offered).
My trip to Diamond left me with a full belly and smile on my face. I cant recommend the burgers… but Im planning a return trip to try something else.
